The Proposal

As told by Nikki!

After 5+ years of Mario and I being together he proposed to me.

We had a wonderful getaway weekend planned for Half Moon Bay. I knew going in we were staying at The Landis Shores for two nights then going to a wonderful dinner at The Rogue Chef for a 5 course meal.

On Sat. August 18th at about 12:30 PM he proposed to me. We had walked to "our" tree (a very special spot) which was about a 3 mile walk along the coat from our hotel. It was a gorgeous day with the sun shining. It was perfect day in HMB. We sat under our tree and shared a cookie.

Then he said "Bubbie I want to spend the rest of my life with you…" Dug in his pocket and pulled out the ring. I began to cry hysterically. I was so moved by him being so wonderful and the beauty of the ring he was presenting me. Bub started to cry too. Of course through the tears he asked "Will you marry me?" and I cried back "Yes!"

While we stood on the bluff top we called our parents to notify them of our joy. My mom was so happy she cried! When we got a hold of Lucy (Mario's mom) she cried. I called my dad and sisters and brothers. Everyone was so happy for us!!

I have no idea how long we were at our tree for…it was amazing. Him, the Ring, the day everything was PERFECT! We talked about us, the ring, our family and everything. After awhile we decided to walk back. As we walked we called some of our closest, I texted a bunch of people! It was great.

We celebrated with dinner at the Rogue Chef a beautiful five course prefixe meal. We ate and shared everything they had to offer. Mario was being weird with the waitress and I was trying to figure out what the hell he was doing. He had ROSES delivered to the restaurant!! The waitress brought them over and all I could say to him was "You're an ass…" I was so shocked and lost…I knew he was being weird and that's why. The dinner was perfect, the flowers were perfect, the waitress was great! The chef came over and congratulated us. We were so happy and shocked (being the foodies that we are). We went back to our room and shared a lovely bottle of Champagne. He thought of everything.

I could not ask for a more special day or a more caring man. I can not express enough how special and wonderful that weekend was and how he made me feel. I knew from the first time that I talked to him (after winning that Powerslave.com contest) he was the guy for me! I never thought that I'd find this type of love in this lifetime. I never thought that I was capable of being so happy and loving someone so unconditionally. I just can not express how happy I am.
